Blended Learning in ELA
ELA at CORE will be taught mostly in a blended learning model. Students will move from station to station interacting with 2-3 different lessons per class period. Our stations are: Technology, Grammar and Reading Enrichment, and Novel Study. Please see the descriptions for each station below!

Novel Study
|
This year we are placing a large emphasis on enriching our students' vocabulary and spelling skills. Every two weeks, students are introduced to a new list of spelling words and a group of activities designed to assist them in studying. This enrichment is being done through spellingclassroom.com, an interactive program that allows students to move at their own pace with personalized word lists.
In the Technology station, students will also have an opportunity to interact with materials that will enhance their work with our Novel Studies and Literary Analysis. |
Miss Mastrobattisto and Miss Harrington feel that all students can benefit from looking more closely at their grammar and writing skills. In this station, students will receive instruction in Reading and Grammar mechanics. Students will focus on parts of speech, word sounds, and dissection of words.
|
During Text Study, students will have an opportunity to work in small groups to look closely at novels, short stories, poems, and other pieces of text in class. Students will develop their ability to speak academically about a text, look critically at a piece of literature, and write about what they have read.
